5 Osaka Theme Parks and Family Attractions: 2026 Guide
*Last updated: November 2026*
From Super Nintendo World to a free-entry park on a mountaintop, the Osaka area has theme parks for every budget. This guide covers five options, with prices and opening patterns checked against official sites in November 2026. Prices in Japan change often, and several parks use date-based pricing, so always confirm on the official page for your date before you go.
Note: Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai closed in October 2025, so it is no longer an option for visitors.
1. Universal Studios Japan: the big one
📍 Google Maps - Universal Studios Japan
Universal Studios Japan (USJ) is Osaka's best-known theme park, home to Super Nintendo World and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The park is a short walk from JR Universal City Station.
- 1 Day Studio Pass: from ¥8,400 for adults (12+), from ¥5,500 for children (4–11) and from ¥7,600 for seniors (65+), according to the official ticket page. Children 3 and under are free.
- Pricing changes by date. The official page says prices vary with availability, and busy days cost noticeably more than the starting price. Check the USJ web ticket store for your exact date.
- Hours: opening and closing times change by day. Check the park calendar instead of assuming a fixed schedule.
Tips: Super Nintendo World may require an area timed-entry ticket or a timed-entry or lottery ticket on the day, depending on crowds. Express Passes are sold separately and can sell out, so buy any you want before your trip.
2. Hirakata Park ("Hirapa"): classic local fun
Hirakata Park is a long-running amusement park on the Keihan Line between Osaka and Kyoto, near Hirakatakoen Station. Its rides include the Red Falcon roller coaster and the wooden coaster Elf. On selected evenings in the colder months, the park also runs a winter illumination.
Prices on the official ticket page (purchased at the gate):
- Admission: adults (junior high and older) ¥2,000; elementary school students and children aged 2 to preschool ¥1,200
- Admission + Free Pass (unlimited rides): adults ¥5,400, elementary school students ¥4,600, ages 2 to preschool ¥3,300
- Buying online in advance is ¥100 cheaper per person. Without a Free Pass, you pay for each ride.
Hirakata Park is closed on some days, and its hours change by season. Check the operating calendar before you visit.
3. Ikoma Sanjo Amusement Park: free entry with mountain views
📍 Google Maps - Ikoma Sanjo Amusement Park
Ikoma Sanjo Amusement Park sits on top of Mt. Ikoma on the Osaka–Nara border, with wide views over the Osaka plain. To get there by train, take the Kintetsu Ikoma Cable Car from Ikoma Station; the park is next to Ikoma-Sanjo Station.
From the official operating page and ticket page:
- Admission: free (rides cost extra)
- 2026 season: March 7 to December 6, closed on Thursdays and some other days. The park closes for winter from December 7.
- Ride Free Pass: adults (junior high and older) ¥4,200, elementary school students ¥4,000, ages 2 to preschool ¥3,000
- Ride ticket book: 12 tickets for ¥3,600, which can be shared within a group

It isn't a theme park, but this 112.5-meter Ferris wheel next to LEGOLAND and the Kaiyukan aquarium is easy to add to a Tempozan day. One ride takes about 15 minutes, and the views stretch across Osaka Bay. According to NAVITIME Travel, tickets are ¥1,000 for everyone aged 3 and over. Hours are 10:00–21:00 on weekdays and 10:00–22:00 on weekends and holidays. Some gondolas have see-through floors.

- Tempozan is one stop: LEGOLAND, the Ferris wheel and the Kaiyukan aquarium are all close to each other.
- Check calendars: Hirakata Park and Ikoma Sanjo close on some days, and Ikoma Sanjo closes for winter.
