Midosuji lights up from November 3, while Nakanoshima's Central Public Hall projection mapping runs from December 11 to 25. Midosuji Illumination 2026
Midosuji Illumination stretches for about 4 km along Midosuji, from Hanshin-mae crossing to Namba-nishiguchi crossing. The trees are lit from approximately 5 p.m. until 1 a.m. each day from November 3 through December 31, 2026. It is free, making it an easy option for a winter walk.
The 2026 theme marks Midosuji's 90th anniversary in May 2027. Five areas present eras from the 1940s to today, and Kita-Mido hosts interactive digital art. The display is part of Osaka Festival of Lights 2026, which runs from November 3, 2026 through January 31, 2027 as a whole; the Midosuji display itself ends on December 31.
A lighting ceremony is scheduled for November 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. For the ceremony, part of Midosuji between Yodoyabashi and Semba-chuo 3 crossings opens to pedestrians. Midosuji and Nakanoshima are both walkable from Yodoyabashi, so you can consider them together when planning your evening.
OSAKA Hikari no Renaissance in Nakanoshima
The main OSAKA Hikari no Renaissance event runs from December 11 to 25, 2026. Its Osaka Central Public Hall projection mapping is planned for 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on those dates, on the east front of the hall. Each show lasts about 10 minutes and is planned to start every 12 minutes; the last show starts at 9:20 p.m. Entry is free.
Other lights in the area run for longer. From November 3 to December 31, the Osaka City Hall facade and Nakanoshima Illumination Street are lit from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. The latter follows about 150 m of zelkova trees along Miotsukushi Promenade. If the projection is your priority, visit during its December 11–25 window. If you are in Osaka earlier in November or after Christmas, the City Hall facade and illumination street give you a longer window for a free evening walk.
Grand Front Osaka: GRAND WISH CHRISTMAS
GRAND WISH CHRISTMAS 2026 runs from November 4 to December 25. Its main tree stands in Knowledge Plaza on the first floor of the North Building. Tree light shows take place every 15 minutes from 4 p.m. to midnight on weekdays and from 3 p.m. to midnight on weekends and holidays. The final show starts at 11:45 p.m.

Umeda Sky Building Christmas
UMEDA SKY BUILDING Christmas 2026, themed “THE STARLIGHT TOWN,” takes place from November 13 to December 25 at Wonder Square, the first-floor plaza. Entry is free. The symbol tree is illuminated from noon to 11 p.m.
Light-and-sound shows last about six minutes. From November 13 to 30, they run from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on the hour and half hour. From December 1 to 25, they run from 5 to 9:30 p.m. The Wonder Christmas Marche is open from noon to 10 p.m., with last orders at 9:30 p.m. Check the official event page for details.

Christmas Market in Osaka Tenshiba
Christmas Market in Osaka Tenshiba 2026 takes place at Tennoji Park's Tenshiba and Tenshiba i:na from November 20 to December 25. Entry is free, and the market operates rain or shine, although it may close in severe weather. Hours change during the event:

- November 21–December 18: 11 a.m.–9 p.m.
- December 19–25: 11 a.m.–9:30 p.m.

Osaka Castle Illuminage
Osaka Castle Illuminage 2026 runs from November 20, 2026 to February 14, 2027 in Nishinomaru Garden, entered near Otemon gate. This year's theme, “Tenka Itto: Hikari no Sho,” tells the story of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Osaka Castle in LED and neon light. See the official event page for updates.
The venue is open from 5 to 10 p.m., with lights on from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Last entry is at 9:30 p.m. It is scheduled daily, rain or shine. Standard admission is ¥2,000 for adults, meaning junior high school age and up, and ¥1,000 for children aged one through elementary school age. Priority tickets are ¥2,500 and ¥1,500 respectively. Tickets are not refundable.
The venue is about a 10-minute walk from JR Morinomiya or Tanimachi 4-chome.
Universal Studios Japan: Universal Holiday Wonders
Universal Holiday Wonders runs from November 13, 2026 to January 17, 2027 as part of Universal Studios Japan's 25th anniversary. A park ticket is required, and its price varies by date; check the official announcement for details.
Two night shows at Gramercy Park have a shorter schedule than the overall event: “Light Up the Night ~Christmas Celebration~” and “Joy of Lights” run from November 25, 2026 to January 11, 2027. The former lasts about 30 minutes and the latter about 10 minutes. Check official information for show times when planning your park visit.
Hirakata Park: Hikari no Yuenchi
Hirakata Park's 13th Hikari no Yuenchi, subtitled “Flowering Illumination,” runs on selected dates from October 31, 2026 to April 4, 2027. The display includes the new 17 m Floral Fairy Castle.
The schedule covers weekends and holidays except January 1, 2027, plus December 21–25 and 28–30, January 4–5, March 23–26, and March 29–April 2. The lights begin at 5 p.m. and continue until closing; in February they start at 5:30 p.m., and in March and April at 6 p.m.
The illumination is included in park admission. Adult admission at the gate is ¥2,000; the adult category starts at junior high school age. Check the official illumination page for the schedule and park details before visiting.
Planning your evening
For a free city walk, Midosuji and Nakanoshima are both accessible on foot from Yodoyabashi. Check the overlapping dates if you want to see the Central Public Hall projection as well as the Midosuji lights: the projection runs only from December 11 to 25.
Weekends near Christmas can be crowded, so allow for that when choosing a date. Dates and times can change; check the official event pages before you go, particularly for ticketed events.
